The Best Hotels for Wedding Guests in Sausalito: Where to Stay for a Seamless Wedding Weekend

The Best Hotels for Wedding Guests in Sausalito: Where to Stay for a Seamless Wedding Weekend

Expert opinion · July 1, 2026 · Nikita Khandheria

Sausalito is one of the most beautiful wedding destinations in California. Nestled along the waterfront with sweeping views of the San Francisco skyline, charming streets, world-class restaurants, and easy access to wine country and the city, it’s no surprise that couples from around the world choose to get married here.

One question we receive almost every time we plan a wedding at ERIA Events is:

“Where should our guests stay?”

The answer depends on what kind of wedding weekend you’re creating. Some couples want a luxury resort where everyone can spend the entire weekend together. Others want a boutique waterfront experience. And some simply want the best value while still giving guests an incredible trip.

After producing hundreds of events throughout Marin County and the Bay Area, these are the hotels we most frequently recommend for weddings in Sausalito.

1. Cavallo Point Lodge

Best Overall Hotel for a Luxury Wedding Weekend

If budget allows, Cavallo Point is simply one of the most iconic places to stay near Sausalito.

Located at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge in Fort Baker, the property offers breathtaking views, luxury accommodations, spa services, hiking trails, and exceptional dining. It feels like a destination resort while remaining just minutes from downtown Sausalito.

For couples hosting multi-day wedding celebrations, Cavallo Point creates an experience where guests can truly settle in for the weekend. Many families enjoy spending the morning together at the spa, walking the waterfront, or relaxing before the ceremony begins.

The property also has experience accommodating wedding room blocks and large groups, making logistics relatively seamless.

Perfect for:

  • Luxury weddings
  • Destination weddings
  • Multi-day celebrations
  • Guests wanting a resort experience

The biggest consideration is price. Cavallo Point is one of the most expensive hotel options in the area, but for many couples, the experience justifies the investment.

2. Inn Above Tide

Best Boutique Luxury Hotel in Sausalito

If someone asks us where the most beautiful hotel in Sausalito is, our answer is almost always Inn Above Tide.

The property sits directly over the water, giving guests incredible panoramic views of San Francisco Bay from nearly every room. It’s intimate, peaceful, and perfectly captures everything people imagine when they picture staying in Sausalito.

For couples with parents, close family, or VIP guests, this is one of our favorite recommendations.

The only downside is that because it’s such a sought-after property, rooms can book quickly, particularly during wedding season. If you’re planning a destination wedding, it’s worth securing your room block as early as possible.

Perfect for:

  • Parents of the couple
  • VIP guests
  • Luxury boutique stays
  • Couples wanting guests to experience Sausalito itself

3. Hotel Infinity (Marina District, San Francisco)

Our Favorite Hidden Gem for Wedding Room Blocks

This recommendation surprises a lot of people.

When couples tell us they’re getting married in Sausalito, they naturally assume every guest should stay in Sausalito.

In reality, that isn’t always the easiest experience—especially for larger groups or younger guests.

Our favorite “secret” recommendation is actually Hotel Infinity in San Francisco’s Marina District.

Here’s why.

The Marina is only a short drive from Sausalito, but the overall guest experience can actually be better for many wedding weekends.

Guests have dozens of restaurants within walking distance.

There are coffee shops everywhere.

Bars stay open later.

Shopping is nearby.

People can walk around after the rehearsal dinner without needing transportation.

If you’re hosting several events over multiple days, guests can easily grab breakfast or lunch on their own without requiring additional planning from the couple.

From an event planner’s perspective, that makes the entire wedding weekend run more smoothly.

We’ve also consistently had great experiences working with the hotel’s management. Their team is incredibly accommodating with wedding room blocks and often has flexibility to customize group rates depending on availability.

In many cases, couples are able to secure rates that are significantly more affordable than luxury hotels in Sausalito while still giving guests a wonderful experience.

For larger weddings especially, it often provides the best overall value.

Perfect for:

  • Wedding room blocks
  • Younger guests
  • Larger wedding parties
  • Couples wanting excellent value
  • Guests who enjoy restaurants and nightlife

Should Wedding Guests Stay in Sausalito or San Francisco?

This is one of the biggest decisions couples make when planning accommodations.

There isn’t one right answer, but here’s how we typically think about it.

If your priority is creating a luxurious waterfront escape where guests spend most of their time relaxing, Sausalito is difficult to beat. Hotels like Cavallo Point and Inn Above Tide offer an unforgettable experience surrounded by incredible scenery.

However, if you’re hosting a larger wedding or planning multiple days of events, San Francisco’s Marina District often provides a more practical home base.

Guests have far more dining options, entertainment, nightlife, shopping, and activities without needing transportation. That flexibility removes a surprising amount of stress from the wedding weekend because guests naturally have places to gather and explore between scheduled events.

One piece of advice we often give couples is to avoid booking room blocks farther into Marin County simply because rates appear lower. While there are wonderful hotels throughout Marin, staying in the Marina District generally gives guests much easier access to restaurants, attractions, and the overall Bay Area experience while still keeping them only minutes from Sausalito.

Tips for Booking Wedding Room Blocks in Sausalito

If you’re planning a wedding in Sausalito, here are a few things we always recommend:

  • Reserve your room block as early as possible, especially for spring and fall weddings.
  • Offer guests a luxury option and a more affordable option whenever possible.
  • Consider transportation between hotels and your venue so guests don’t have to worry about driving.
  • Ask hotels about complimentary upgrades for the couple, welcome bags, and hospitality suites.
  • Think about the entire guest experience—not just where they’ll sleep, but what they’ll do throughout the weekend.
