Why We Opened ERIA Marina

Why We Opened ERIA Marina

For years, we found ourselves having the same conversation.

We would be planning an event somewhere in San Francisco, working through ideas with a client, and inevitably we'd hit a wall. Sometimes it was a venue restriction. Sometimes it was a production limitation. Sometimes it was simply a lack of flexibility. The vision would be there, the excitement would be there, but somewhere along the way the original idea would have to be scaled back to fit the space.

As event planners, we understood why those limitations existed. Every venue has its own priorities and constraints. Still, after years of navigating them, we started wondering what it would look like to create a space designed from the opposite perspective.

What would happen if the venue was built around possibility instead of restriction?

That question eventually became ERIA Marina.

The project did not begin with plans to open another event venue. It grew out of years spent producing events and seeing firsthand what clients were asking for and, just as importantly, what they were often unable to find. People wanted spaces that could adapt to their vision rather than requiring them to adapt to the venue.

When we found the Marina location, we immediately saw the potential. The neighborhood has a unique energy. It feels distinctly San Francisco while remaining accessible and welcoming. More importantly, the space itself offered an opportunity to build something intentionally, with the needs of modern events in mind.

From the beginning, we focused on infrastructure.

One of the first investments we made was in a state-of-the-art sound system. Sound has an extraordinary ability to shape how people experience a space, yet it is often treated as an afterthought. Whether the event is a wedding, a product launch, a private dinner, or a corporate gathering, the atmosphere is defined as much by what guests hear as by what they see.

We approached audiovisual capabilities with the same mindset. Rather than requiring extensive temporary installations, we built the venue to support immersive experiences from the start. The goal was simple: to give clients a foundation that could be transformed into almost anything.

That flexibility is especially important to us because transformation has always been at the heart of what we do.

Some of our favorite projects over the years have involved turning ordinary spaces into environments that feel entirely unexpected. We love working with designers, florists, artists, performers, and creative partners to build experiences that transport people. Sometimes that means bringing in large-scale floral installations. Sometimes it means creating immersive entertainment. Sometimes it means combining elements that have never been attempted in quite the same way before.

Too often, we found ourselves constrained by venues that could not accommodate those ideas. ERIA Marina was created in response to that experience.

We wanted a place where ambitious concepts could be explored rather than immediately ruled out. A place where collaboration comes first and where the starting point is not "no," but "let's figure out how."

As we open our doors in the Marina, that spirit continues to guide us.

The venue itself is only part of the story. What excites us most are the events that have yet to happen here and the people who will bring them to life. We built ERIA Marina for clients who want to create something memorable, whether that means an elegant dinner, a large-scale celebration, a brand activation, or an experience that defies easy categorization.

After all, the events people remember are rarely the ones that followed a formula. They are the ones that surprised them, immersed them, and left them feeling as though they had stepped into something entirely new.

That is the kind of experience we hope to create at ERIA Marina.
